EVANKING

Production

A press conference has no second take.

Thirty years of live broadcast, motion direction, documentary and event production. Mostly under a clock, usually with one shot at it.

Calling a live broadcast from the gallery

01 — Live & broadcast

Over a thousand news conferences

Multi-camera switching, BlackMagic hardware, real-time titling, clean feed out to the room and the stream at once. The graphics pipeline is mine rather than a template, because the running order moves right up to the moment the mic opens and templates do not survive contact with reality.

The room hears a room mix and the broadcast hears a broadcast mix. Both are decided in the hallway, live, by one person.

02 — Documentary

Camera and direction on location

Shooting and directing for humanitarian and advocacy organisations — Save the Children, The Anne Frank Foundation, LINK, Make Her Beautiful, Dolphin Outreach.

Documentary work for an advocacy organisation carries an obligation a commercial shoot does not: the person in front of the lens is usually telling you about the worst thing that happened to them, and the consent has to be as carefully handled as the footage.

03 — Motion & direction

Cinema 4D, After Effects, and a deadline

Title sequences, broadcast graphics, kinetic type, commercial direction. Motion for advocacy is a harder brief than motion for brand: a soda ad has to make you feel something, and an advocacy piece has to make you feel something and leave you able to check the claim.

That constraint is what shaped the style. The type has to stay legible at speed, the data has to be cited on screen, and the pacing has to let a statistic breathe.

04 — Event production

Separate concerts with Jackson Browne and Tom Morello

Full concert production inside an awards show inside a fundraiser, produced annually. Venue, lighting design, broadcast contracts, satellite truck and streaming all lock eight to ten months out.

The sequencing is the job. Who speaks when, who plays between which awards, how long a room holds attention between set-ups — no production value rescues a running order that is wrong.

05 — Voice

300+ radio spots

Narration and spot work, written, recorded and cut in the same room. 150+ podcast episodes produced end to end — recording, edit, distribution.

Samples going up shortly.

06 — Projection mapping

In development

Large-format projection and architectural mapping. The natural meeting point of everything else on this page — motion design, live production engineering and a room that has to work on the first night.

In development for 2027.
